Emerson House Online

During the COVID-19 lock-down period from March 2020, all our pupils continued to be taught online by the same teachers and with same programmes. In spite of the challenges, both our pupils and our teachers quickly learned how to adapt to the new environment and recognise that it has benefits as well as challenges.

Due to this success, our silver lining from the pandemic crisis, Emerson House Online has been formally launched, catering specifically for pupils (of all ages) and parents for whom being taught at home or at their school is a more practical outcome than the trip to the pink door of Emerson House.

Emerson House and Emerson House Online - FAQ's for prospective parents:
  • Should I consider Emerson House or Emerson House Online?  Emerson House Online reaches the pupils all around the country and the world that Emerson House is unable to reach - with online teaching we can support children whose age, journey time or school schedule makes coming to Emerson House impractical. Our Online learning is for children of all ages and in all parts of the world!
  • Is the teaching Online the same as at Emerson House?   Yes, we use the same specialist teachers with the same Emerson House structured programmes in Literacy, Maths and Touch Typing. Our programmes rely heavily on multi-sensory learning and we have adapted some of our methods and learning games to the online environment.
  • What are the other benefits of Emerson House Online?   The principal benefit is that we can build flexible timetables to fit in with you, your child and their full time school. Our Sessions lesson structure (see Teaching) can either be the same continuous 3 hours we offer at Emerson House or they can be spread over different days.
  • What about paired learning?   Most of our Online Literacy and Maths lessons will be taught one-on-one with the Touch-Typing lesson taught typically in a one-to-three ratio. As at Emerson House itself, we will offer paired learning for Literacy and Maths but only after careful consideration. The pricing of our programmes varies accordingly.
  • What is the process for joining the Online programme?   The process is the same as at Emerson House: it starts with an assessment which can be done at our premises or via video-call, we also offer continuing assessments and reports to parents as part of the ongoing process. Registration at Emerson House Online includes a dedicated online learning pack which we will send to your home.
